MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP – A member of the Pleasant Valley High School band apparently drowned in a pond at a summer camp.  Michael Robinson, 14, was one of several students attending a band camp at Camp Equinunk, on Route 191.

The boy was one of several students who went for an early afternoon swim in Union Lake.  He was noticed missing when band members assembled for a practice following the swim.  A search failed to find him and dive teams were called in.  Robinson’s body was found a short distance dock, in about 25 feet of water

The band reportedly returned to the Pleasant Valley campus Tuesday evening.  Psychologists and grief counselors were available last night, and will be at the school today.

Robihnson would have entered his freshman year at the school September 2.
