Wayne County’s new jail in full operation

TEXAS TOWNSHIP - The Wayne County Correctional Facility in Indian Orchard, is fully open for business as of Monday August 18.  All male and female inmates and detainees have been transferred from the prior location in Honesdale to the facility.

The Warden’s office and all administrative operations have also moved.  All State and Local law enforcement agencies have been notified of the change in location and procedures for receiving individuals at the Wayne County Correctional Facility.  The housing report today shows 78 individuals in house with nine men housed at surrounding facilities.  Most of these inmates will be transferred in the near future.

The Wayne County Commissioners commended the entire Corrections and Sheriff’s departments for their assistance in the transfer of operations and transportation of individuals from various locations to the Wayne County Correctional Facility.

The Commissioners are also thanking all of those employees, local officials and contractors who assisted and supported this project along the way.  The cooperation of all of these individuals in bringing this project to reality is a true testimony to the spirit of dedication and commitment that rings true throughout Wayne County.
