Carney reports for active duty

CLARKS SUMMIT  - Congressman Christopher Carney reports for active duty today at Langley Air Force Base in Virginia. Carney, a Commander (select) in the U.S. Navy Reserves, is one of only two Members of Congress who continue to wear the uniform and participate in active duty each year.

“Wearing the uniform is a duty I take very seriously,” said Carney. “If you make a commitment to the military like I have, then you are expected to fulfill that commitment.”

Congressman Carney has completed training to be a Predator Mission Commander, and will be involved with the Predator and Reaper Missions while on active duty.

Carney has served in the Navy Reserves since 1995, and was recently promoted to the rank of Commander this summer. He will “pin-on” next spring.
