Main work on 611 in Stroudsburg complete |

STROUDSBURG – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today the major work to improve the streetscape on PA 611 (Main Street) in the Borough of Stroudsburg, Monroe County, is complete. “The long term traffic restrictions are complete,” Construction Inspector Walter Korab said. “There may be short term traffic impacts when we install the traffic signals, but it will be minimal. We appreciate the patience of the Main Street motorists and business owners.” Work began March 24, and the remaining work consists of installing the new traffic signals and ornamental street lighting. New traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of PA 611 with Seventh, Eighth and Ninth streets. Completed work includes:
The purpose of the project is to reduce congestion along PA 611 and improve the streetscape. All work is expected to be completed by December, weather permitting. J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Pa. is the general contractor on the $1.6 million project. This portion of PA 611 has an average daily traffic volume of 15,591 vehicles.
