Stokes Avenue Bridge repairs to begin Monday |

STROUD TOWNSHIP – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced repairs will begin Monday (August 25) on the Stokes Avenue Bridge over the Brodhead Creek in Stroud Township, Monroe County. The project entails replacing two pier caps, mid-span bearing supports and a northern abutment bearing support. All work will take place below the bridge deck, and no traffic impacts are anticipated. The work is expected to be complete in October. All schedules are weather dependent. The general contractor on the $300,000 project is Clearwater Construction, Inc. of Mercer, Pa. The Stokes Avenue Bridge was constructed in 1957. It is a 188 feet long, 27.5 feet wide, steel I-beam structure. It carries an average daily traffic volume of 9,367 vehicles.
