Milford House Tour to benefit Safe Haven |
||||||
MILFORD - The tenth annual Behind Closed Doors House Tour is set for Sunday, September 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This go-at-your-own pace, self-guided tour will allow visitors to view exceptional Milford homes and one exquisite Shohola home for the benefit of Safe Haven of Pike County. These homeowners have generously agreed to open their homes to help support the work of Safe Haven. For those who have been on the tour before, they know what an exceptional event it is, ending the day with a reception in the home of a Safe Haven board member. This fundraising house tour was the brainchild of Luisa Weinstein, a former Safe Haven board member, back in 1998. To mark this special anniversary, Safe Haven is honoring Luisa Weinstein as the driving force behind ten years of house tours and for having helped to establish this tour as a major fundraiser for the organization. Safe Haven is a not-for-profit agency whose mission is to “restore dignity to individuals dealing with issues of domestic violence and sexual abuse through crisis intervention, supportive counseling, prevention/education, and community outreach.” There is a 24-hour crisis hotline (570-296-HELP) staffed by trained volunteers who have completed a 60-hour training course. For further information, call the Safe Haven offices at (570) 296-2827. |
