Teen robbery suspect wounded in shootout

Jacques

EAST STROUDSBURG – Police have identified the suspect wounded in a shootout in the Wal-Mart parking lot early Thursday morning.  Reneau Jacques, 17, of 77 Symphony Circle, East Stroudsburg,

Jacques allegedly attempted to rob a customer who was loading groceries into his pickup in the parking lot of the East Stroudsburg Wal-Mart at about 1 a.m.  He had a gun, but apparently didn’t know that his intended victim, Joshua Eastman, 28, also had a weapon, and a permit to carry it.

Eastman was the better shot.

Jacques fired several shots, all missing Eastman, although Eastman sustained facial cuts from flying glass when one of the bullets hit the windshield of his truck.

Jacques, with three bullet wounds in the leg, fled, but was quickly captured.  He faces a long list of charges including attempted murder.
