Local student to attend “Service Nation” summit

WASHINGTON DC - Delaware Valley graduate and Milford resident Nick Troiano was one of one hundred young leaders in the country chosen to attend “A Nation of Service” summit in New York City on September 11and 12. The summit is sponsored by ServiceNation, a dynamic new organization that is dedicated to strengthening our democracy and solving problems through civic engagement and voluntary national service. In total, five hundred business, educational, philanthropic, and political leaders will be in attendance.

“I am very excited to have been accepted and attend,” Troiano said. “I think it will be a great opportunity to engage in this worthy and admirable movement of ordinary citizens improving their communities and country.”

A sophomore government major at Georgetown University, Troiano is a founding member and now executive director of the Pike County Youth Coalition. At school, he works for a national youth civic engagement organization, Mobilize.org.

Prominent speakers and panelists scheduled for the summit include New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, New York Governor David Patterson, New York Senator Hillary Clinton, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Recording artist, Usher will chair the group of young leaders at the summit.
