HARRISBURG - Governor Edward Rendell signed several bills that authorize paychecks to resume for state workers at the State Employees' Retirement System, Public School Employees' Retirement System, Public Utility Commission, and the Office of Consumer Advocate, as well as selected workers at the departments of State, Labor and Industry, and Community and Economic Development. "Last week I asked legislative leaders to return to Harrisburg and pass these bills as soon as possible so that these employees could be paid," said Governor Edward G. Rendell. "I thank them for taking swift action on this legislation and hope we can continue to move forward with the budget process. Treasurer Rob McCord has played a significant role in facilitating the quick payment of state employees, and I am grateful to him and his staff for their hard work." State workers at the affected agencies will receive back pay and their paychecks on Friday. |
