Sexual assault on ESU campus

EAST STROUDSBURG – A woman says she was sexually assaulted, in broad daylight, on the East Stroudsburg University campus, Friday morning.  Police are searching for the suspect.

The crime happened about 11:30, near Dansbury Commons.  The victim says she was walking in a parking lot behind the university dining hall adjacent to N. Green St., when she was grabbed by the assailant who put a knife to hear throat.  She was dragged into some bushes were she was assaulted.

Classes are not yet in session, but campus police put out a text alert and email alerts.

University Police Chief, Robin Olson, said that the Pennsylvania State Police in Swiftwater are the lead investigators on the case and are working in conjunction with the university police and the Stroud Area Regional Police.

The victim was on campus taking care of some paperwork.

The suspect is a white male, between 18 and 26, about 6 feet, with brown hair.  He was wearing jeans and a blue raincoat.

Anyone who may have information is asked to call campus police at 570-422-2000.
