Hair-Raising Event at ESU |

East Stroudsburg - East Stroudsburg University sororities raised nearly $300 and donated 135 inches of hair to benefit the Locks of Love program during a recent hair-cutting event titled “Help Make A Child Smile.” Hairstylists from Salon Evol of Stroudsburg volunteered their time to cut hair that will be used to create custom-made hairpieces for young cancer victims, burn victims and children with alopecia – a condition that causes premature balding, according to Suzanne Di Tore, event organizer and graduate assistant of Greek Affairs at ESU. The event took place on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in the University Center, where Salon Evol stylists set up two salon chairs to give free hair cuts to those donating 10 inches or more. Shorter haircuts were given for a cash donation to Locks of Love. “This is a way for students on campus to get involved in community events without leaving campus,” Di Tore said. “I had planned on donating my hair to Locks of Love and decided to extend this opportunity to other students as well as community members.” Various student groups have worked with Salon Evol to hold similar events periodically over the past few years at ESU. |
