High-speed crash kills fireman

STROUD TOWNSHIP – Speed is blamed for a one-car accident that killed a volunteer firefighter Wednesday night.  Adam Smith, 25, of Stroudsburg, died when his car slammed into a tree and broke into two pieces. 

The accident happened about 9 p.m. on Stokes Avenue. 

Smith was a volunteer with the Marshals Creek Fire Company.  He was not responding to a call when the accident happened.
