COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP – A Lackawanna County woman was killed Saturday night in a crash involving two SUVs on Interstate 380 in Monroe County. Police say Maureen Perih, 46, of Moscow was dead at the scene, after being ejected from her vehicle as it went down an embankment. The accident happened about 8:30 p.m. near the Goldsboro exit. Both SUVs were heading north. Perih apparently came into contact with another vehicle she was trying to pass. Both vehicles went down the embankment between the north and southbound highways. Perih’s SUV ended up in the southbound lane causing it to remain closed to traffic for about two hours. The driver of the other vehicle, Rosland Merkinson, 39, of Passaic NJ, was taken to Pocono Medical Center. Her condition is not known.
