Priest, DeNaples associate, arrested

Sica, right, with DeNaples, at the grand opening
of the Mount Airy casino in October

Harrisburg – Rev. Joseph Sica, adviser Mount Airy Casino owner Louis DeNaples, was arrested this morning and charged with perjury for allegedly lying to a grand jury probing DeNaples’ alleged ties to organized crime.  Sica, a Roman Catholic priest, frequently accompanies DeNaples at his public appearances, including the grand opening of his casino in October.

Sica was arrested outside his Scranton home.

The perjury charge alleges the priest lied to a Dauphin County grand jury about his relationship with the late Russell Bufalino, an organized crime boss.  The indictment alleges Sica misrepresented the relationship by claiming he had met Bufalino only by change and that there was no relationship.
