GOULDSBORO – The Gouldsboro rest area on Interstate 380, near the Monroe-Lackawanna county line, was not a pleasant place Tuesday.  A garbage truck apparently dumped its load of several tons at the rest area and weigh station sometime early Tuesday morning.

The rest area is not open to the public.  There is a closed gate blocking the entrance ramp, so it appears the truck had to back up using the off-ramp. 

Most of the mess was bagged household garbage but there were also a few mattresses.

PennDOT crews spent the day cleaning up the mess.  PennDOT and police are invesitating.
