MILFORD - The Delaware Highlands Conservancy has a new brochure just out to show tourists and locals where farms and farm markets are in Monroe, Pike, and Wayne Counties. Sue Currier, Executive Director, showed the “Shop Local, Save Land” brochure to the Pike County Commissioners. “We came up with that title because we want people to shop the local farm markets”, said Courier. “By supporting them, not only is the local economy helped, it is also allowing us to keep the rural landscape in these counties by allowing farms to profit and stay farms.” The brochure lists 30 farms and 12 farm markets in the three county area and the products they sell. Next year the brochure will turn into more of a magazine format and hopes to expand to include local merchants, artisans, and more farms and farm markets. “ We got this one out in a hurry for this summer and hope to have a better one for 2009,” said Courier. The brochure will available at local businesses throughout the three counties.
