Cough closes kennel, temporarily |
||||||
SHOHOLA – The Pike County Humane Society will remain closed, at least for a few more days. Kennel cough, a mild respiratory infection, apparently was detected in some animals, so the decision was made to close as a precaution. A spokeswoman for the PCHS confirmed the situation to PoconoNews.Net Tuesday, but could not provide details. She said the kennel possibly would reopen later this week, conditions permitting, but information on the PCHS website says “The shelter plans to reopen Tuesday July 7th, but you should check back here for confirmation.” The shelter has continued to operate on a very tight budget. Current economic conditions have not helped. More animals are being surrendered, but donations have dropped. Donations may be made by visiting the PCHS website. |
