Police ID train victim

EAST STROUDSBURG – The homeless man run over by a train Sunday is Scott Salvador, 52, who was lying on the tracks behind the Kmart store, a known hangout area for homeless people.  Police delayed releasing the man’s name because of difficulty finding any relatives.

Salvador died shortly after 4 Sunday afternoon.  He was observed lying on the tracks by an oncoming train, which attempted to stop and repeatedly blasted its horn, to no avail.

The death has been ruled an accident.

Even though he has no known immediate family, Salvador reportedly was well-known to many in the area, as a friendly, helpful man, who would occasionally volunteer at local service agencies.
