Converters taken by car lot thieves |

STROUD TOWNSHIP – Dozens of catalytic converters were taken from vehicles on a car dealership lot, last weekend. Surveillance cameras captured the two men removing the devices from 37 cars at the Ray Price Honda lot on Route 447, Sunday night. All of the vehicles were Pilots and CRVs, which have higher wheelbases, making it easier to get under them to remove the converters. The vehicles were not otherwise damaged. Replacing the devices will cost the dealer about $1,000 each. Catalytic converter theft is a growing problem. Because of valuable metal inside, including platinum, they can be sold at scrap yards for up to $100 each. Police reportedly do have some leads in the crime. |
