Regional development map ready

Milford – A new regional development map is ready to be given out to local municipalities in the eight  counties across three states that have worked together to produce the map. The eight counties in Pennsylvania, New York, and New Jersey that border the Upper Delaware River Valley that collaborated were Wayne, Pike, and Monroe in Pennsylvania, Warren and Sussex in New Jersey, and Delaware, Sullivan, and Orange in New York. The map shows existing dense development, proposed residential development of over 20 lots that have been approved or are pending since January 2006, commercial development over 10,000 sq. feet, and conserved lands.

The map is the first project of the Upper Delaware River Roundtable which is a voluntary partnership of representatives from state agencies, county governments, and grass roots organizations who meet to enhance the future of the Upper Delaware River Valley. The group felt that a regional map would be a useful tool to provide local municipalities with an overview of what development was occurring outside of their own borders.

“We feel this map will provide a regional awareness of development,” said Mike Mrozinski, Asst. Planning Director for Pike County.

Maps may be obtained by calling the county planning department in each of the eight counties.
