Wayne chambers launch energy buying pool program

HONESDALE - A top concern for business owners is the rising cost of energy.  To help local businesses save money and mitigate increases, the Southern Wayne, Hawley-Lake Wallenpaupack, and Wayne County Chambers of Commerce are pursuing the possibility of enlisting the services of OnDemand Energy to create a members-only energy aggregated buying pool.   The pool will buy electricity in bulk for a fixed time period as a way to lock in a lower price for businesses that are chamber members and participating in the pool.  The Chambers are joined in this effort by a number of PA Chambers and its partners representing ChamberChoice.

Chambers of Commerce have long understood the economic and intrinsic value of bringing members together to form collective buying pools to obtain such essentials as health insurance, long distance service, office supplies, etc.

The Southern Wayne (689-4199), Hawley-Lake Wallenpaupack (226-3191), and Wayne County Chambers of Commerce (253-1960) will host two informational meeting dates with OnDemand Energy. Following are the meeting dates, times and locations:

  • Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Community Room, 32 Commercial Street, Honesdale. Scheduled times are 8:30 am and 10:30 am.
  • Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Gresham’s Chop House, Route 6, Hawley at 11:00 am.
  • Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Bennoco’s Beef and Brew, Route 590, Hamlin at 4:00 pm.

These meetings are free and open to the public, but interested businesses must call the Chambers to register.  The Chambers of Commerce are pleased to announce this added benefit and ongoing customer support to its members.
