HONESDALE - A group of dedicated volunteers, The Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, recently handed over a check for $75,000 to the hospital at the hospital’s annual volunteer luncheon at Ehrhardt’s in Tafton.  The money reflected a lot of hard work over the past year, and it didn’t go unnoticed.  “Your generous donation of your time and energy and your selfless care have touched the lives of patients, visitors, families and hospital staff,” said Helge Mortensen, Chair of Wayne Memorial Health System.

With this donation, the Auxiliary is now just $145,000 shy of its pledge of $570,000 to the hospital’s capital campaign—more than any other group or individual. The Auxiliary raises money through special events such as the upcoming Attic Treasures at the Wayne County Antique Show on July 11 and 12th and “Showtime at the Ritz” on July 16.

The Auxiliary also brings in funds through its three shops: The Gift Box in the hospital lobby, The Other Shop in Honesdale and The Other Shop 2 in Hawley.
