Thunderstorms drench region

POCONOS – Thunderstorms brought to four inches of rain fell Tuesday in parts of the Poconos, causing flooding in a few places , closing at least one school early, and starting at least one fire. 

Hawley reported some roadway flooding after almost four inches fell late Monday evening.

A Tuesday morning lightning strike is blamed for a fire that damaged the roof and attic of a home in Milford.  No one was injured.  (See separate story)

A power outage blamed on a thunderstorm forced early dismissal at the Resica Elementary School in East Stroudsburg.  Students were sent home at 10 Tuesday morning.

A lingering power outage, affecting fewer than 500 customers, was reported by Me tEd, in the Equinunk area of Wayne County, late Tuesday evening.  Power has since been restored.
