POCONO TOWNSHIP – Skeletal remains, believed to be at least a year old, were discovered in a wooded area just off Route 940 in Mount Pocono Thursday morning.  A tree-cutting crew made the discovery.

Investigators say they have few clues because of the condition of the remains.  The age and gender cannot be determined, although remnants of clothing suggest it could have been a male.   At least one year’s deposit of leaves and debris covered the bones. 

Some items were found nearby, including two bags and some alcohol bottle.  It is not certain they are connected to the victim.

A forensic anthropologist will be brought in to examine the remains and look for a possible cause of death. 

Pocono Mountain Regional Police are looking through missing persons repeports.

The discovery caused traffic chaos for most of the day.  Busy Route 940 was closed, in the vicinity, from late morning  until the evening.
