United Way announces this year’s funding

MILFORD - The United Way Board of Directors announced that 17 local Pike County human service agencies will benefit from the generous donations to the 2008-09 Campaign.  Contributors supporting this campaign allowed UWPC to offer hope and support where it is needed most in our community.

“The Pike County United Way takes its stewardship of your donation very seriously and minimizes its overhead and other costs so the vast majority of your donation goes to help the community", said Scott Myer, CPA and UWPC Treasurer.  "Currently, we have achieved 82% of our goal and are able to distribute $90,000.00 between 17 Human Service Agencies.”

“We are so appreciative and touched by the generous outpouring of support from this community especially during a year of serious economic challenges”, said UWPC President Christine Obser.   “I am pleased to announce the funds will be distributed between the following agencies”: 

  • American Red Cross, Pike-Wayne Chapter,
  • Camp Speers-Eljabar, YMCA,
  • Catholic Social Services,
  • Center for Developmental Disabilities,
  • Country Ark Farm,
  • GAIT,
  • Good Cheer Food Pantry,
  • Good Shepherd Child Care,
  • Habitat for Humanity,
  • Holy Trinity Food Pantry,
  • Honesdale Volunteer Ambulance Corp.,
  • New Vision Club House,
  • Pike ALS,
  • PCDC,
  • Safe Haven of Pike County,
  • The Salvation Army
  • Wayne-Pike Adult Literacy.”
