Man charged in 2004 cleaver killing

POCONO TOWNSHIP – Five years after a man was hacked to death with a meat cleaver, police have charged the alleged assailant.  Police arrested Robert Giardini, 66, of Pocono Township.

Giardini has claimed, since the crime, that he killed Kevin Walker, 20, of Paterson NJ, in self defense.

According to Giardini, Walker came to his home, on Buck Fever Trail, asking to use the phone, because his car broke down.  Giardini claimed Walker became violent and he killed him, to protect himself and his wife.

Police say a more probable scenario is that Walker the Giardini’s drug dealer, and his arrival had been expected.
