Violent storm causes power outages, some damage

POCONOS – It lasted less than 30 minutes, but while it was going on, there was lightning, a mix of torrential rain and hail, and very damaging winds.  The Friday afternoon storm snapped tree limbs, and a few entire trees and caused thousands to lose power.

Many are still without power.  Met Ed reports scattered outages remain in the Saylorsburg and Stroudsburg areas of Monroe County, Milford and Dingmans Ferry area of Pike County, and the Equinunk and Thompson areas of Wayne County.

Pike County Light and Power reported most of its more than 4,000 customers in the Matamoras and Milford areas were without power.

There are no reports of injuries.
