Power still out in Milford   Update

Update:  As of 7 p.m., all but about 700 Milford area customers had their electricity back.  Orange and Rockland says most of the remaining customers should be back on by midnight.

MILFORD – Almost a full day after a violent storm hit the area, Milford Borough, Westfall Township and some surrounding areas are still without electricity.  Orange and Rockland Utilities, parent company of Pike County Light and Power, says they hope to have electricity restored by 6 p.m.

Several thousand customers of PCLP, MetEd and PPL lost power during following the storm late Friday afternoon.  Much of the damage was caused by the high winds and falling trees or branches.  A second storm hit the area, overnight, causing another round of blackouts.

Most power was restored by late evening or early Saturday morning.

Milford, however, was still in the dark, creating an unusually quiet scene in a community normally very busy on a Saturday. Restaurants were particularly hard hit, but many of the smaller stores tried to stay open.

Met Ed also reports lingering outages, as of 4 pm, in the Milford, Dingmans Ferry and Bushkill areas of Pike County, as well as Saylorsburg in Monroe County and Thompson in Wayne County.
