Milford - The Pike County Correctional Facility has received a letter of commendation from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency.

The facility has received Superior Ratings over the past 3 years and is one of only two facilities in the country to do so, while providing safe and humane custodial care of ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detainees.

”Approximately one-third of the population at the facility are ICE detainees,” said Warden Craig Lowe. “The inspection process was a very thorough one and took three days.”

Pike County Commissioner, Richard Caridi, a former warden at the county jail, said that this rating was very significant to the citizens of Pike County.”It provides documentation as to how the facility is run and helps in cases when the facility is sued by former inmates. Taxpayers dollars have been saved by documentation like this,” he said.
