Accused pizza vandal accomplice faces deportation

STROUDSBURG – The accused accomplice in an apparent plot to damage a Barrett Township restaurant reportedly has agreed to plead guilty to reduced charges, and will be kicked out of the country.

Mehmet Egdu, 20, faced several charges after allegedly driving his employer, Mumun Barbaros, owner of the Continental Grill in Canadensis, to the nearby Capri Pizzeria on Route 390, with intent to do damage to the place.  The men were caught in the act, March 17, the second time in a week the Capri, still under construction, had been vandalized.

Egdu will plead guilty to a single count of criminal conspiracy and will face deportation.  He is a Turkish national.

Barbaros committed suicide in the Monroe County jail last weekend.
