Pike County has first-ever engineer on payroll

Milford – The Pike County Conservation District says an engineer with experience in designing projects and construction management has been hired effective May 12.

District Manager Susan Beecher said that Domenick DiPaolo will be involved in site review for various projects.  “He will be able to review plans and do site storm management inspections as more construction is coming to Pike County”, Beecher said. “He will be a resource for other staff members.”

His annual pay will be $60,000 with two performance based increases of $1,000 each a six month intervals. His salary will not place an extra tax burden on the citizens of Pike County. It will  come from replacing a supervisor position in the Conservation District and from fees generated for reviewing plans.

The Commissioners noted that one major benefit of having an engineer working for the county will be to help businesses speed up the process of gaining permits. The work can now be done on the local level instead of state level. Businesses will be able to start up faster than waiting for the state to get involved with the permit process.
