United Way donates to food pantry

Obser, right, with Robert and Anne Schmalzle, Directors of
Good Cheer Food Pantry

MILFORD - Do you live in Pike County and want to give back to the community?  Do you wonder how you can make a difference within your own hometown?  The local food pantries could always use your donations; it could be a canned item, boxed, or anything non-perishable.

The United Way of Pike County has helped to refuel their local food pantry.  Christine Obser, UW Board President, delivered food to the pantry, Good Cheer Food Pantry, helping Anne and Robert Schmalzle restock their food supply.  “I am fortunate to be a part of the United Way and grateful that we are able to continually support our community.  This has been a tough year, families are feeling the downturn in our economy, needing the support of our local human services agencies more than ever” said Christine Obser, UW Board President.

Through the generous donations of our community, each year the United Way supports local human service agencies that alleviate homelessness, sickness, hunger and abuse.

This year the United Way has seen more than ever the devastating consequences of economic hardships on our families.  Anne and Robert, showed deep gratitude expressing how they have acquired more people seeking basic resources for their survival, more this year than ever.
