Police Commission recommends budget with two officer cuts

EAST STROUDSBURG – Despite pleas from more than 80 residetns serviced by the Stroud Area Regional Police Department, the Police Commission voted to recommend a budget that would cut two officers and eliminate an office position.

The 2010 budget now goes to the three member municipalities: Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg and Stroud Township.

East Stroudsburg Mayor Armand Martinelli reportedly cast the only ‘no’ vote.

During three hours of testimony, citizens appealed to the commission, and the three municipalities, to somehow find the funding to save the three positions.
