Student charged with staging robberies via Craigslist

BETHLEHEM – An East Stroudsburg University student is accused of setting up robberies, via Craigslist, a popular website for posting free classified ads.

Corey Jackson, 21, of East Stroudsburg, used an alias, Dale Faison, to set up meetings with people to buy or sell items.  In one case, he is accused of stealing a ring from a Bethlehem township Couple, and in another, he allegedly attacked a Bethlehem man and stole $1,400 from him.

The attack on the Bethlehem man happened last April.  He agreed to meet the victim, to sell a laptop computer.  After the late evening transaction, Jackson allegedly pepper sprayed the victim and took back the computer.

Police in Northampton County filed charges earlier this week, and are holding Jackson in lieu of $75,000 bail.
