Two charged with drug trafficking in western Monroe

Osby

Perez

COOLBAUGH TWP – Wearing a D.A.R.E. T-shirt was not a convincing ruse for police in Monroe County.  Police arrested Jason Osby, 23, whow as wearing the Drug Awareness Resistance Education program shirt, at the time, and Paola Perez, 18, Wednesday, charging them with illegal trafficking of narcotics.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police Officers made the arrests, at a Pheasant Lane house the two shared, in A Pocono Country Place, as a result of a search warrant that was executed at their home on November 20.  On that date, police seized evidence that the two individuals were engaged in the illegal trafficking of narcotics.

When police arrived at their home to arrest the two, Osby lied to police about Perez, his girlfriend, being in the home.  He was informed that there was an arrest warrant for her and then told police that she was in New York. Police later found her hiding in a closet within the home.

Osby now faces additional charges of hindering apprehension for this conduct.  The primary charges against Osby and Perez are possession with intent to deliver controlled substances, criminal conspiracy, possession of controlled substances, possession of instruments of crime, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Each suspect is in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.
