Armed standoff ends in Wayne County

SALEM TOWNSHIP – A man who fired a shot during a more than five-hour standoff with police is in custody.  Police say Michael Goodwin, 38, finally surrendered about 7:30 this evening, ending the standoff that began around 2:00 Tuesday afternoon.

The incident reportedly began at Goodwin’s Lakeview Drive home, off Route 590 near Hamlin, when his estranged wife and two friends arrived to remove her belongings.

Goodwin is in custody.  It’s not known, yet, what charges he will face.

No one was injured.
