State grant for Delaware Township

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP –Delaware Township in Pike County will receive a state grant from the Department of Environmental Protection to help it ensure the safety of on-lot septic systems.

The grant of $83,299 will reimburse the township for 50 percent of its eligible expenses for performing the sewage enforcement provisions in the state's Sewage Facilities Act. The law requires local governments and agencies to inspect and permit the installation or extension of on-lot systems.

"Delaware Township has done a great job of maintaining these on-lot systems and ensuring they comply with DEP and other health and safety standards," State Rep. John Siptroth, D-Monroe/Pike, said. "This grant will assist the municipality with these duties and making sure our local water supply continues to be healthy and safe."
