Monday is voter registration deadline

HARRISBURG -- Secretary of the Commonwealth Pedro A. Cortés reminded Pennsylvanians that Monday, Oct. 6, is the last day to register to vote before the General Election.

“Monday is the final day to register to vote in Pennsylvania before the Nov. 4 election,” said Cortés. “Registering to vote is easy and, if citizens have questions about eligibility, they can find answers at VotesPA.com. There, they can find printable voter registration applications, information on eligibility, a polling place locator, and demonstrations of the voting system used in their county.”

Printable voter registration applications and contact information for county boards of elections are just two of the many resources available through VotesPA.com. Applications from eligible Pennsylvanians who need to register, change their address or name, or change their party affiliation must be postmarked or personally delivered to the applicant’s county board of elections no later than Oct. 6.

“If you are not registered to vote, you cannot cast your ballot in the General Election,” said Cortés. “Once you have submitted your registration application, watch your mail to ensure you receive a confirmation of your registration within 14 days. If not, contact your county board of elections immediately.”

In order to vote in Pennsylvania, a person must be registered. To be eligible to register to vote, a person must be:

  • A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the election date;
  • A resident of Pennsylvania and of the election district in which you want to register and vote for at least 30 days before the election date;
  • At least 18 years of age on or before the day of the election.
