Illegal bounty hunters arrested

STROUDSBURG – Five would-be bounty hunters are in custody, facing several charges, including impersonating public servants.  Four members of the group, calling itself “Wargod Inc.”, were arrested Wednesday and a fifth turned himself in Thursday.

The roundup of the Wargod members followed a botched attempt to nab a fugitive last week.  IN the process, the suspects created a general nuisance, particularly in and around the West Gate Apartments, a home for the elderly, in Stroudsburg.

Kelly Hefferon, 40, allegedly provided the house, on Route 715 in Jackson Topwnship, which served as headquarters and training facility for the operation.

Hefferon was arrested Wednesday, along with Lawrence Colon, 39, James Farrell, 35, and Darryl Normil, 21.  The fifth suspect, Anthony Laino, 35, surrendered Thursday.

All are being held in lieu of $100,000 bail each, in the Monroe County jail.
