Most Pike municipalities participating in preservation program

MILFORD - Since 2006, nine of Pike’s 13 municipalities have made use of the Pike County’s Scenic Rural Character Preservation Program’s funds for planning initiatives. The Preservation funds have also been used to provide technical assistance to local municipalities. A portion of the funds, approximately $30,000, was designated in 2008 as the first year implementation funds for the Pike County Agricultural Land Preservation Program jumping the program off to a successful start by leveraging a large amount of additional state funds for the Agricultural Land Preservation Program.

Sally Corrigan, Director of Community Planning for Pike County, told the County Commissioners the program remains a success.

The following municipalities have received the listed amounts:

  • Blooming Grove Comprehensive Plan - $15,000
  • Delaware Comprehensive Plan and Ordinance Updates - $47,360
  • Greene Comprehensive plan - $25,000
  • Lackawaxen/Shohola Joint Comprehensive Plan and Open Space Plan - $45,948
  • Matamoras Borough/Westfall Township Joint Comprehensive Plan and Open Space Plan - $55,000
  • Pike County Conservation District for county-wide planning - $20,000
  • Porter Comprehensive Plan and Ordinance Updates - $40,000
  • Palmyra Comprehensive Plan and Ordinance Updates - $35,000
  • Shohola Township Ordinance Updates - $10,000
