DUNMORE - PennDOT Engineering District 4 announced that it has awarded a rehabilitation contract for the bridge, crossing the Delaware River between Matamoras, and Port Jervis, New York. The bridge carries Route 6 and 209 over the Delaware River. Work includes repairs to the steel structure, beams and expansion joints as well as painting to prevent further deterioration. PennDOT expects this job to begin in spring 2010. One lane of traffic will be maintained on the bridge to carry westbound traffic from New York into Pennsylvania. Traffic traveling from Pennsylvania into New York will be detoured on to Interstate 84 eastbound across the Delaware River. The $2,638,000 contract was awarded to Minichi, Inc. of Dupont, Luzerne County, and is financed with federal funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. |
