STROUDSBURG – Monroe County Commissioner Donna Asure is switching jobs, sort of.  Asure, who has been interim warden at the Monroe County Correctional Facility for several months, was named warden by a unanimous vote of the county prison board. 

The troubled facility has had seven wardens in the past two years. 

The board said it has full confidence in Asure’s ability to further bring things under control.  She was one of three finalists for the job.

The action creates a vacancy on the three-member Board of County Commissioners.  Judge Donald Vican will name a replacement to serve the remaining two years of Asure’s current term.

Asure, the lone Republican, has been a commissioner for ten years.
