Stroudsburg -The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced work on the US 209/Main Street (Veterans Memorial Bridge) over the Brodhead Creek in Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg boroughs, Monroe County, will begin September 17. 

Motorists can expect a single lane traffic pattern in each direction during the bridge rehabilitation project. 

Crews will patch and overlay the bridge deck, replace expansion joints and install a new mountable median.
Baseline Contracting, Inc. of Coplay, Pa. is the general contractor on the $893,000 project.
The Veterans Memorial Bridge was constructed in 1960 and rehabilitated in 1976. It is a 398 feet long and 68 feet wide, three -span, Steel Girder bridge. Business Route 209 (Main Street) has an average daily traffic of 13,791 vehicles.
