Police think they have vehicle in Monaco hit-run fatal

Tunkhannock Township – Police say they expect an arrest soon in the hig-and-run death of motorcyclist Robert Monaco, more than two months ago.

A vehicle, believed to be the one that ran over Monaco as he lay injured on Route 115, the night of July 3, was found in Scranton.  It matches the description provided by witnesses who were trying to help Monaco, who had fallen off his cycle, but was not seriously hurt.

Police say they are questioning a suspect and an arrest is pending.

Police, meanwhile, have an arrest in another fatal accident from earlier this year.

Edwin Sotero, 21, of Valley Stream, NY, surrendered to authorities Friday.  He has been charged with vehicular homicide and involuntary manslaughter for the death of a passenger in his car on May 26.

Jennifer Jeppson, 19, of Saylorsburg, and two other passengers, were ejected from Sotero’s vehicle which crashed on Route 940 in Pocono Pines.  Jeppson died.

Police believe Sotero was travelling more than 80 miles an hour and trying to pass other vehicles by driving on the right shoulder on a curve.
