AmeriCorps Educational Award Program open ESU Students

East Stroudsburg - The Service-Learning Initiative Committee at East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania invites ESU students to apply for a special educational award program that can provide them with a $1,250 academic award which can be applied to tuition, student loans or graduate school.

The deadline to apply for the Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania program is Friday, October 19, 2007.  Applications are available by visiting the ESU website, www.esu.edu. Click on “Academics,” and follow the “Academic Affairs” link to the “Service Learning” web page.  The application can be accessed by then clicking on “Scholars in Service to PA Application.”

Scholars in Service to Pennsylvania is a quarter-time AmeriCorps Education Award only program administered by the Philadelphia Higher Education Network for Neighborhood Development (PHENND).  The program provides academic awards ($1,250) to students at the completion of a 12-month, 450-hour term of service.  Students who are accepted to the program will be involved in one of five focus areas (youth development, tutoring and mentoring; poverty and homelessness; community health; environmental issues; or aging issues).
