Park to waive fees on National Public Lands Day

Dingmans Falls

Bushkill - Superintendent John J. Donahue announced that the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area will waive the park’s Expanded Amenity Fees for National Public Lands Day on Saturday, September 29. Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area does not charge an entrance fee, but does collect the Expanded Amenity Fees for recreational use at five sites in New Jersey (Watergate Recreation Site) and Pennsylvania (Milford Beach, Dingmans Ferry Access, Bushkill Access, and Smithfield Beach).

Late September is a great time of the year to explore Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. The trees are beginning to show their fall colors and the weather is usually pleasant. There are a variety of ways to enjoy the park during the fall season:

  • paddle a stretch of the Delaware River;
  • take a short, easy walk to Dingmans Falls (PA) or a more vigorous hike to the top of Mt.
  • Tammany (NJ);
  • mountain bike on the McDade Trail (PA) or bicycle tour on Old Mine Road (NJ);
  • meander through Millbrook Village, a re-created 19th century agricultural village, where volunteers and park rangers demonstrate period crafts;
  • have a picnic lunch – there are ten picnic areas in the park.

For additional information about sightseeing and recreational activities in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, call the Park Headquarters at 570-426-2452 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) or visit the park’s website at www.nps.gov/dewa.
