PMVB announces destination management company

POCONO MOUNTAINS - Destination Pocono, a new destination management company for the four-county Pocono Mountains region, will not only bring additional corporate, association and social events to the region, but also offer the consumer a value.  From event planning and activity coordination to securing rooms and meeting space, Destination Pocono will be a ‘one stop shop’ for event and meeting planners.

“Having a locally based destination management company committed to improving the visitors experience while in the Pocono Mountains is a wonderful value,” said Carl Wilgus, president and CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau (PMVB).  “The PMVB looks forward to working with Destination Pocono.”

The key role for Destination Pocono is to provide a wide range of services to assist the individual and groups to experience the Pocono Mountains.  The company represents activities such as ATV riding, canoeing, fishing, golf, hiking, horseback riding, NASCAR experience, paintball, skiing, skydiving and whitewater rafting.  Destination Pocono will prospect and seek out corporations and associations to present the region as a true destination for their organization as well as reintroduce the region to past groups.  The mission of the management company is to show the consumer all that the region has to offer and to bring local businesses additional awareness.

Destination Pocono started as a small company, simply named the Pocono Adventure Center

LLC, that offered tourists and groups discounted activities in the region.  Owner and President of the company, Daniel Martinell, is a third generation business owner in the community.  Throughout the years a popular question for tourists  has been, ‘What is there to do in the Pocono Mountains?”  With so many activities to choose from, the visitor is left to decide how best to spend their time.  In addition to services provided by the PMVB, having yet another source to answer questions and coordinate activities allows the opportunity to reach even more consumers interested in the Pocono Mountains.  Martinell took this vision a step further, forming Destination Pocono to present a needed avenue for larger groups to come to the ever growing region.

Destination Pocono looks forward to partnering with local businesses and venues to help bring more visitors to the region.  Recently, teaming up with Pocono Raceway and Martz Trailways, travelers were offered opportunities to experience a NASCAR race by providing a package including race tickets and transportation to and from New York.  Every last detail of this event proved successful seeing reservations for next year’s races on the books.
