Dress code debut went well, say school officials |

STROUDSBURG – The 3,800 students attending grades 5 – 12 in the Stroudsburg School district came to school with a new look, for the most part. Gone are torn baggy pants and wildly decorated shirts. A new dress code went into effect with the first day of school Tuesday. Students must wear attire that confirms to standards of appearance. Khaki dresses and pants, including shorts, below the knee, are permitted, as are collared shirts, without logos or images. Permitted colors include black, white, maroon and gray. School officials planned to enforce the code right from the start, but only about 100 students showed up out of compliance. Clothing items needed to bring them into compliance were available at the school. One parent reportedly was cited for disorderly conduct for using foul language.
