Sivick Says: No Toll “Tax”

LEHMAN TOWNSHIP – Assembly candidate John Sivick, says incumbent representative John Siptroth’s (D-189) support of tolling on Interstate 80 is an affront to residents.

“John Siptroth’s support of tolls on Interstate 80 flies in the face of all his constituents,” said Sivick, a Republican. “Virtually all the voters I speak with oppose tolling completely. PennDOT got their last fuel tax hike by claiming the increase would cure our transportation problems; so why hit our pockets again with yet another tax? Call it what you will, toll or tax; either way, toll booths on I-80 is too much for residents and local businesses to bear.”

According to Sivick, more than fifty percent of district residents are daily commuters and the last thing they need or want is another tax.

Sivick is quick to point out that, “At least two state senators and two representatives from both Monroe and Pike counties are on record in opposition to the I-80 toll plan.” Sivick’s policy calls for tax relief, “Residents of Monroe and Pike counties are taxed enough,” said Sivick. “And enough is enough.”

Sivick, currently the Lehman Township supervisor, says he is calling for “accountability from PennDOT” for all projects within the district.
