Verdict upheld in Curtin case

STROUDSBURG – The verdict in the sexual assault case against former Monroe County Republican committeeman John Curtin was upheld by the state Superior Court.

Curtin was convicted, in March, 2007, of assaulting a 17-year-old male outside a Stroudsburg motel in August 2005.  He reportedly plans to appeal the conviction, and superior court decision.

Meanwhile, the ruling, earlier this week, means Curtin must start serving a jail term, which could be three to six years, instead of the six to 18 months originally imposed in county court.  Curtin was also ordered to register as a sex offender under the state’s Megan’s Law.
